LAS VEGAS, Nevada (Reuters) -- A British man who sold all his possessions, including his clothes, stood in a rented tuxedo on Sunday surrounded by family and friends and bet everything on a single spin of the roulette wheel. He won't go home empty handed. Ashley Revell, a 32-year-old Londoner, sold all his possessions in March, took $135,300 to the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, did some low stakes gambling and then placed everything he had left on "Red." The wheel was spun, a crowd of supporters including his Mum and Dad from London went wild, the ball bobbled over the slots and landed on Red '7' -- and Revell walked away with $270,600. [...]

• NETeller Arrives On AIM

Online payments company NETeller has made its debut on the London Stock Market. The company announced its plans to list on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) last month and hoped to raise about £50m lending the company as a whole a valuation of about £200m. The company, which provides online payment technology for betting sites, is based in the Isle of Man and provides services in Europe, North America, but plans expansion into Asia next year. The company raised £30m from selling shares at 200p each. Co-founders and existing share holders John Lefebvre and Stephen Lawrence sold £5m of shares to aid the flotation but have said that they will not to sell any more for at least a year. [...]

He was in the bed sleeping when the two men walked into his bedroom. Billy Walters sleeps in a big clean bed in Las Vegas, in a small but elaborate home renovated to his liking, with palm trees and white flowerpots and two satellite dishes in the yard, and four large televisions in the den, and a security guard who sits just out of sight behind the shrubs across the street. This environment was disrupted early last Jan. 5, when the two strangers introduced themselves to Billy Walters with all the subtlety of an alarm clock. He greeted them by sitting up in the bed, blinking. His wife wasn't in the bed with him. They already had her, probably. "You're going to have to get dressed," one man said. Billy Walters reached down for the pile of wrinkled clothes he had worn the night before. The room was quiet. The men watched him dress. "We don't like to have to do this to do," the other man said. His wife, Susan, was downstairs with a third man in the kitchen. There was not a lot of chit-chat. Susan and Billy Walters were led across their fine, trimmed yard in handcuffs. • Atlantic Lottery Could Use Online Club To Pioneer Internet Gambling

HALIFAX (CP) - An online club that has attracted 24,000 Atlantic Canadians will be used to set up one of the country's first legal Internet gambling sites if the Atlantic Lottery Corp.'s board approves the plan, the agency's president has confirmed. Michelle Carinci, in an interview with The Canadian Press, said the website is already being used to create a database of potential online gamblers. "If we were to go online, yes certainly we would have a database of players that have already shown an interest . . . that we could open up the market to fairly quickly." While there are hundreds of betting sites on the Internet, most of them based offshore or operated by native bands, provincial lotteries have yet to enter the market because the Criminal Code prevents them from selling outside their provincial boundaries. Meanwhile, Atlantic Lottery's new eClub Rewards site encourages users to enter contests and play light-hearted games, such as online air hockey, in return for submitting personal information. Gambling critics say the database, which includes players' ages, addresses and even mothers' maiden names, will allow the corporation to offer online gambling without violating the prohibition on inter-provincial sales.
