Willemstad, Curacao-June 23, 2004 - From one of the most prestigious magazines in the casino industry, 'Casino Player', comes the top honors to Omni Casino by naming the 'Best Online Casino' for 2004.
Winning awards is nothing new to Omni Casino which had been named "Best Payout Percentages" in both 2002 and 2003 by Gambling Online Magazine, as well as "Quickest Payouts" and three honorable mention citations for "Top Casino", "Progressive Slots", and "Top Web TV Site".
"We certainly love the accolades from such magazines like Casino Player, and we'll continue to improve on the great reputation we have by making the software and the service behind it the best that it can be," gleams Steve Blair, the Pit Boss from Omni Casino®.
"The timing for this award couldn't be better, as it coincided with the release of 10 new and exciting games in the Omni Casino® software, including Progressive Jackpot Blackjack, and the 'Spin-a-Million' Slot machine whose jackpot is currently at a cool quarter million dollars," adds Blair. "This allows new players, in addition to our existing client base, to experience the best in the classic casino games, as well as the suite of 10 new casino games, and at the same time know they're playing with the 'Best Online Casino', according to Casino Player Magazine."

Protection Rackets Hit Online Gambling |
Criminal gangs based in eastern Europe are playing a nasty game with Internet gambling companies. With help from skilled network vandals, they're knocking the betting sites offline, then demanding huge extortion payments to halt their digital attacks.
The betting service eHorse found out the hard way last October, when visits to the website dropped to nearly zero. "We just couldn't figure out why our system wasn't working," said Kevin Martin, the site's gaming consultant.
Prior to the attack, eHorse had profitably served gamblers worldwide from its headquarters in San Jose, Costa Rica. "We take bets on horse races, basically," Martin said. "North American horse racing, primarily." Dozens of other Internet gambling companies have set up shop in Costa Rica, where gambling laws are lax and Internet connections good -- until last October, when the network crashed. The breakdown puzzled eHorse executives, but not for long.
"We get an e-mail," Martin said, "an extortion e-mail, saying, ' We've got control of all your system. If you want to get your system back, pay us $30,000, and we'll stop doing it, and we'll protect your system from anybody else. ' The attackers added instructions to send the payoff in multiple installments to several locations in Russia via Western Union. [...]

U.S., Antigua Seek Solution To Internet Gambling Case |
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States and Antigua have suspended litigation over Internet gambling and want to resolve the World Trade Organization dispute through negotiations, an American official said on Tuesday.
"We look forward to working with Antigua to discuss the issues surrounding the dispute and hopefully to resolving it," said Richard Mills, a spokesman for the U.S. Trade Representative's office.
Tiny Antigua and Barbuda successfully challenged the U.S. ban on Internet gambling, U.S. trade officials said in April. At the time, the officials said the Bush administration planned to appeal the WTO confidential ruling.
Online gambling is growing rapidly worldwide, with spending of around $7.5 billion this year, according to industry estimates. [...]
