Online Gambling Case Dropped After Witness Fails to Testify |
November 18, 2005 - A case against a man, who was allegedly breaching laws of the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission Act, has been dropped after the prosecutions main witness failed to testify against the online betting company.
Spiros Athanas Internet gambling business, based in Jamaicas Montego Bay, was shut down last year after he was accused of illegally taking bets using the Internet and international toll free phone calls.
Originally opening as a telemarketing business, the company expanded into online gambling.
All eight charges against Mr. Athanas have been dropped and he is now able to continue taking bets on the condition they are not local. |
