• Trump to Reattempt $470 Million Junk-Bond Sale Next Month

NEW YORK -- Donald Trump is going to try his luck again in the junk-bond market, returning in January with a $470 million sale after scrapping a similar offering in May. The casino and real-estate mogul is betting that better results at Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts Inc. and improved market conditions will help him sell the bonds at lower interest rates than investors wanted earlier this year. "I was going to do it earlier, but I wasn't satisfied with the interest rates, so we pulled it and now we are going out again," Mr. Trump said in a telephone interview. "The results we have had thus far this year are very good and the bond market is much better than it was 12 months ago." The new bonds are expected to mature in 2011 and Trump will use the proceeds to refinance about $242 million of Trump Castle 11.75% mortgage notes, which mature in November 2003, and other debt, said Mr. Trump.
