Corralling Gamblers On The Net Frontier |
Gambling in the borderless world of cyberspace is much like playing cards in the old West. Virtually every island on the modern map seems to operate an online casino, much as almost every railroad stop in Nevada had a card table.
The comparison doesn't end there: Not only is cyberspace borderless, it's seemingly lawless.
States are finding ways to regulate gambling effectively in traditional brick-and-mortar casinos, leaving the job of policing Internet gambling to Washington lawmakers. Yet even the federal government concedes that shooting down all illegal e-gambling is virtually impossible.
Clearly, there's a regulatory abyss: States can set age limits to control who can buy a lotto ticket in a gas station, bet in a casino, or pull a tab ticket in a bar. Internet blackjack dealers, however, can freely deal cards in the half of America's homes that are wired. [...]

Labor Day $3.2M MegaJackpot(TM) Hits In Downtown Las Vegas
|
LAS VEGAS, Sep 2, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- A Phoenix-area man who won $3.2 million on Wheel of Fortune(R) Monday night says his Labor Day slot jackpot means he can retire earlier. Anthony Rios won on a Wheel of Fortune(R) quarter machine that his wife, Carmen, was playing at Mermaids Casino in downtown Las Vegas. When she turned away to talk to a casino employee, Rios leaned over and hit the spin button.
"It got very quiet," he said, as the three winning symbols lined up. "It was like the casino just receded into the background. Then my wife started screaming really, really loud and time seemed to start again."
Rios, 43-year-old manager for a software company, says the only thing he knows for certain is that they'll use the money to pay for the education of their two children. "Maybe I'll retire sooner than I planned. I'll tell you, winning a few million dollars sure takes the pressure off the breadwinner!" he said, grinning from ear to ear. [...]

Golden Palace Streaker Pictorial |
By now you've probably heard of Golden Palace, the online casino with a penchant for hiring streakers to promote their site. Below we've compiled a brief visual history of some of their most famous streakers.

As British Open winner Ben Curtis was being handed the Claret Jug, a topless Laura Gosling broke away from the crowd and made a beeline to present him with a kiss. Security intercepted her and escorted her off the course before she could reach the 500 - 1 longshot winner. [...]
