Woman Claims $1 Million Lottery Raffle Prize |
January 6, 2006 - MIDDLETOWN, Pennsylvania (PRESS RELEASE) -- Marsa Albright of Martinsburg, Blair County is the first to claim a $1 million top prize from the Pennsylvania Lottery's first-ever Millionaire Raffle game.
The selection of four $1 million top-prize raffle tickets and five $100,000 second-prize raffle tickets came from a pool of just 500,000 tickets that were sold for $20 each between Nov. 22 until they sold out on Dec. 5, and was televised live on the Lottery's drawing show on Dec. 31. Five hundred $1,000 winning raffle tickets also were selected, but were not displayed due to time constraints.
Albright presented her winning ticket Wednesday afternoon at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County. After examining the ticket and executing other propriety security measures, Lottery officials confirmed that it was one of four top-prize tickets from the New Year's Eve Millionaire Raffle drawing.
Albright bought her winning ticket at Leighty's Farm Market on Route 220 in Newry, Blair County. The store will receive a $5,000 selling bonus from the Pennsylvania Lottery. Albright said that, although she plays the Lottery's instant ticket games, her Millionaire Raffle ticket purchase was the first time she ever played a Lottery numbers game.
The remaining three top-prize Raffle tickets were sold at Rosie's Restaurant on Lincoln Highway in New Oxford, Adams County; V & V Hardware on Island Road in Philadelphia; and Foodland in the Beulah Road Shopping Center, Turtle Creek, Allegheny County. Each of these retailers also will receive a $5,000 selling bonus. The holders of the remaining winning tickets have not yet come forward.
The numbers are listed by prize category in ascending order. Players may also use a "search" function to enter their eight-digit Raffle ticket number to see if they have a winning ticket.
The $1 million prizes must be claimed by presenting a winning ticket at Pennsylvania Lottery headquarters in Middletown, or at any of the Lottery's seven area offices located throughout the commonwealth. The five $100,000 prizes can be claimed at any of the Lottery's seven area offices or at any licensed Pennsylvania Lottery retail location.
Claims may be filed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Pennsylvania Lottery headquarters, and Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Lottery area offices.
Holders of Millionaire Raffle tickets worth $1,000 can claim their winnings at any Lottery retail location. |
